DANI HUISMAN

Hey everyone! Meet our coach and president of the Smithers Ringette Association-Dani Huisman!
Dani has played ringette all her life, starting as a kid in her home town of Rockyford, AB. She played for a Canadian team that did a European tour in 2006 and played for MRU in Calagry for her university years. She has played on many other teams in BC and Alberta, has started teams and has coached all ages over the years. When Dani knew she was moving to Smithers in the summer of 2023, she started brainstorming about how to start Ringette in Smithers!
She is excited to hit the ice (and the gym) to help kids learn about the game, have fun, and make lifelong friendships!

Hello! I’m Coach Mal! I’ve had the privilege of growing up in the beautiful Bulkley Valley for all 27 years of my life! I have always had a love for sports and spent a lot of my time on the ice! Started out a player in Ringette at age four and grew a love for the game playing goalie in my later years in the sport! My fondest memories growing up consisted of attending Ringette Provincials, creating team chants and having the most fun with my team!
Giving back to the community supporting Ringette in our little town is something I’m grateful to be apart of! Cannot wait to see you all on the ice!

Hey Everyone! I’m Coach Paige!
I joined ringette simply to get more ice time to be a better hockey player. It only took one season before I was completely hooked and decided to focus on solely on ringette! The speed, agility, strategy and playing level initially was what drew me in but it was the ringette community that kept me coming back. From playing at AA Western Championships in Winnipeg to attending La Releve in Edmonton to playing recreationally in Ottawa throughout university to officiating BC provincials - this sport has given me a community across Canada. I am working in Smithers this Winter and am super excited to be part of the creation of the ringette community in Smithers!
